From January 2022 to December 2022, JASSI holds a series of free monthly smartphone & tablet workshops for senior members at JASSI's Lower Manhattan Office. In this series of free monthly workshops, seniors will learn how to access online information to improve the quality of their lives. We look forward to your participation.

This workshop will be held in Japanese only.

This workshop is funded by a grant from Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) to the "Information Accessibility for Seniors" program.

Senior Assurance Call

JASSI offers phone calls on a regular basis to Japanese senior citizens who live alone and/or have health concerns to ensure their well-being. Please contact us if you are interested.
Eligibility: Over 60 years old & lives alone (Contact us if you are not sure of your qualification)

Health Insurance Marketplace

If you qualify for Public Health Insurance Programs or Special Enrollment Period, you may be able to enroll in health coverage. Please go to your state Marketplace website if applicable, or go to HealthCare.Gov and select your state. If you need assistance in enrolling/renewing health coverage in New York State, please contact us so our Certified Application Counselor may be able to assist you!


FREE Cancer Screening

JASSI will continue the partnership with the New York State Department of Health Cancer Service Program Queens and ScanVan and accept appointments for a clinical breast exam and a pap smear/pelvic exam* for uninsured women who are 40 and older, living in NYC (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Bronx).

1) Cancer Service Program Queens (Queens residents only)
The exams are conducted at Jackson Heights Family Health Center every Thursday at 1 pm. After the clinical breast exam, a mammogram is conducted on a different day at New York Hospital Queens. The FIT and colonoscopy are done as needed.

2) ScanVan (NYC residents)
You will have a mammogram in a van and a pap test and colonoscopy will be done on a different day as needed. For more information on dates and locations, please call us.

*You do not need to do pap test if you did it in the past 3 years and got negative (good result). If you have done pap with HPV test and got negative, you do not need to do it for five years. Yet, you can make appointment for breast exam that needs to be done every year.

If you have health coverage, you will have to use your insurance.

1) Hotline
If you have questions or need consultations for any issues you may have, including housing, health insurance, employment, low-income, consumer, disability, legal, financial, and family issues, please contact us between 10AM and 5PM from Monday through Friday. Please include your Zip Code and age.

2) Senior Program
Provides case assistance, information and referral services, social and/or cultural events, and seminars for people over 60 years old.

3) Caregiver Support Program (funded by NYC Department for the Aging)
Provides services to those who care people over 60 years old. The services include supportive counseling, case management, home care and benefit referrals, respite services, supplemental services, and support group.

4) Community Outreach Program
Hosts seminars and workshops for Japanese-speaking individuals in the New York City area. The past seminars and workshops include Visa, Citizenship, Health Insurance, Home Care, Living Will, and more!
